LUGGAGE :

I know from experience that strong and supple bags are better than rigid suitcases which are often too small, please include hand luggage which will allow you to bring just the necessary personal effects up to your hotel room for the night.

Advised clothing:
- for days on the road: leisure wear, loose fitting and warm, good shoes with ankle support, swimsuits for swimming-pools and lakes in Mongolia
- for most evenings, smart casual clothes
- for gala evenings, as formal as you wish,..go for it!!!

Laundry:

Prices are prohibitive in Russia, Take care to say that you want your clothes washed not dry cleaned (because everything will be done together even socks!!!) process time can vary (there’s no 35 hr. week but communism has left it’s mark)
It will be possible to do a large wash on rest days (St-Petersburg, Moscow, Oulan Bator and Datong). It is advisable to bring your own hand washing powder/liquid for washing smalls in your hotel room.
For Mongolia, washing products, including soap and shampoo, must be labelled biodegradable (due to local ethics)
Don't forget personal medication and creams for the sun and the cold, plus sunglasses, hats and even back belts.
It is advisable to bring an extra pair of prescription glasses and sunglasses.

Total block sun cream is essential as we will be on the Mongolian plateau in full sun at almost 2.500 metres.

A small safe will be available in the organisers’ truck, for small items of value. But please don't bring expensive jewellery it would be too risky. The countries we will be travelling through are very poor. (Average annual salary is 50$)

MISCELLANEOUS INFORMATION
- Fishermen: bring your fishing rod for the lakes in Mongolia (we are depending on your catch for dinner, if you get nothing, we all get nothing)
- Huntsmen: there's nothing we can do for you, we will be in the land of the Shaman
- Golfers: the country is enormous - bring your XXL clubs!!
- Horse riders: bring your boots you will be able to ride the Mongolian horses
- Photographers: bring your best lenses; you will be able to capture the most wonderful wildlife. Don’t forget a waterproof bag for your camera and films etc.
- Filmmakers: bring a good supply of videos and hard discs, to capture the most unique moments
- Music enthusiasts: bring your recording equipment, tzigan evenings and Mongolian choirs are a memory worth keeping
- Meteorite seekers: don't forget your magnets
- Dreamers: just enjoy....
And most important of all, as our friend Confucius said :
"Weight is the enemy of the road", Therefore limit extras to a minimum and don’t forget to tie down everything in the cab (driver and co-driver included) – to avoid the risk of flying objects
THANK YOU.
